California lawmakers are advancing AB 2017, a CAIR-California co-sponsored bill that would formally recognize Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays. The bill would allow public schools and community colleges to close for both holidays, authorize classroom exercises “acknowledging and celebrating” their meaning and importance, and permit the State Board of Education to develop a model curriculum around them.
