On November 24, 2018, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani gave this speech to Islamic world leaders, who were gathered in in Tehran at an international conference on Islamic unity. It was broadcast live on state television.
Rouhani called on all Muslims worldwide to unite against the United States, instead of “rolling out red carpets for criminals.”
He warned his fellow Muslim leaders against the treason of “submitting to the West headed by America,” and for Muslims “to forcefully stand against injustice and remain faithful to our Prophet, our Quran and our Islam.”

Rouhani is the top current leader of the world’s Shia Muslims. For a long time, I have warned you that the Shia are the ultimate planners within the whole Islamic Movement—and therefore, they are the most dangerous.
The Shia’s eternal war against the Sunnis will be resolved some day in the future—but only if the Shia survive this round of battle. Today, their hold on power from Iran is coming under immense pressure.
But as a minority faction, for the past fourteen centuries, the Shia have always survived such pressures, against overwhelming Sunni numbers. It is not a success to be taken lightly. After all, the Sunnis consider the Shia to be infidels, just like you and me.
So this call from Shia leadership, for “Islamic” unity against “the West,” is a clever gamble. By it, the Shia hope to live to fight the Sunnis another day, in the ultimate war for Islamic world supremacy.
And in his tricky appeal to the Sunnis for unity, Rouhani invokes the three elements that all Muslims must accept, without question—Muhammad, Quran, and Islam. So how is any Sunni Muslim to argue against that?
